The London 2012 Olympics

On 27 July, 10.000 athletes from over 200 countries will come to London for the world's biggest sports event: the Olympics!

From 19 May to 27 July, the Olympic Torch will travel 12.800 km around the United Kingdom. 8.000 people will carry the torch: they will run, but they will also use horses, ballons and canoes.

Meet the official mascots of the London Olympics, Wenlock and Mandeville. Their names come from two British towns that played an important role in Olympic history.

SPORTS are games which people play for fun and some grow-ups play as jobs.They can be played outside or sometimes inside in special gyms and indoor fields. The good thing about sports is that they keep you fit and healthy.
The most popular sport in the world is football.
HOBBIES are anything you do for fun in your free time. All games and sports are hobbies: playing with toys or collecting stamps are also hobbies.
